DPI / Pixel Size Converter
Convert a physical size (inches, cm or mm) to pixels at any DPI — and back. Essential for getting prints sharp at 300 DPI.
pixels = inches × DPI. At 300 DPI (the print standard), 8 in = 2400 px and 1 cm ≈ 118 px. To go from pixels back to a print size, divide by the DPI.
DPI (dots per inch) and PPI (pixels per inch) are used interchangeably here. 300 DPI is the standard for sharp printing; 72 DPI is the classic screen value.

FAQ
How do I convert inches to pixels?
Multiply the size in inches by the DPI. At 300 DPI, 8 inches = 8 × 300 = 2400 pixels. To go back, divide pixels by DPI: 2400 px ÷ 300 = 8 in.
How many pixels is 1 cm at 300 DPI?
1 cm = 0.3937 in, so at 300 DPI that's about 118 pixels. The converter above does this for any size and DPI.
What is the difference between DPI and PPI?
PPI (pixels per inch) describes a digital image; DPI (dots per inch) describes a printer's output. In everyday use they're treated the same when converting size to pixels.
What DPI should I use for printing?
300 DPI is the standard for sharp prints and is what most print shops require. 150 DPI can be acceptable for large posters viewed from a distance; 72 DPI is the old screen value.
What size is A4 in pixels?
A4 (210 × 297 mm) is 2480 × 3508 pixels at 300 DPI, or 595 × 842 px at 72 DPI. Use the converter to get other DPI values.
pixels = inches × DPI. Conversions are exact; printers may apply their own scaling — check your export settings.
